DW World · world

Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has refused to step down despite ongoing violent clashes between anti-government protesters and police. Demonstrators are demanding his resignation over alleged corruption, unemployment, and poor education standards. Rama stated that the protests threaten Albania's EU accession ambitions, not his government. He suggested the demonstrations are influenced by an "outside hand" and that governments should only be changed through elections. The European Commission has condemned the violence and urged protection for the right to protest.
