The situation in Manipur's hill districts remains tense following fresh clashes between two communities, which have resulted in nine fatalities. Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh has condemned the violence, urging for peace and restraint. He has instructed authorities to take immediate steps to control the situation and ensure citizen safety. Additional security forces have been deployed to the worst-affected districts of Kangpokpi and Kamjong. The recent killings began after a woman was shot dead in Kuki-dominated Chassad village, triggering retaliatory exchanges.
