Germany's Merz Rejects Trump's Russia Diesel Deal, Favors Sanctions

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has stated that any diesel deal between Donald Trump and Russia is "out of the question" for Germany and the European Union. Merz emphasized that the current priority should be new EU sanctions against Russia, not trade agreements. He assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Ukraine can rely on Germany's support. This comes as Germany is also participating in NATO's nuclear deterrence exercise, Steadfast Noon, in Italy.
