The Omani co-pilot allegedly attacked Captain Smit Machar with a 'crash axe' and attempted to take control of the aircraft. Passengers and crew intervened to subdue the co-pilot. UAE's senior diplomat Anwar Gargash commended Captain Machar's bravery, calling him a 'true hero' for preventing a potential disaster. The co-pilot, identified as Haman Al-Hammami, was reportedly previously grounded in Oman for suspected radical views.
