1924 Atlanta Mansion Cut In Two And Moved To Save It
Times of India · interesting
A historic 8,000-square-foot mansion in Atlanta, built in 1924 for Thomas Jefferson's great-great-grandson, was saved from demolition by being cut in half. In 2013, new owners moved the Georgian Revival-style home about two miles to a new location. The complex process involved utility crews lifting power lines and a hinged roof to clear the path. The home, designed by P. Thornton Mayre, was originally built for attorney Hollins Nicholas Randolph. This preservation effort ensured the landmark's survival for future generations.
