Kolkata Durga Puja Stampede Kills 19; Judge-Led Probe Ordered

A stampede at the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata, resulted in the deaths of 19 people and left many others injured. The massive crowd overwhelmed existing arrangements, leading to the tragic incident. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the site and announced that a sitting judge from the Calcutta High Court would investigate the cause. Local authorities have arrested seven individuals, including the puja committee secretary and security in-charge, as investigations into the cause, including narrow entryways and inadequate crowd control, continue.
