Staff Shortage May Delay Crop Loss Assessment

Pune district agriculture department has begun assessing crop losses in eight drought-hit tehsils, covering approximately 1.25 lakh hectares. However, a significant shortage of field staff poses a risk of delays in this crucial exercise. Officials have deployed teams to conduct village and farm-wise assessments, but the sheer scale of the task, with one officer often covering ten villages, presents a major challenge. Farmers are anxious for financial relief, and activists are urging the administration to deploy additional teams if needed to ensure a swift and transparent assessment.

पुणे जिले के कृषि विभाग ने सूखा प्रभावित आठ तहसीलों में लगभग 1.25 लाख हेक्टेयर क्षेत्र में फसल नुकसान का आकलन शुरू कर दिया है। हालाँकि, फील्ड स्टाफ की भारी कमी इस महत्वपूर्ण काम में देरी का जोखिम पैदा करती है। अधिकारियों ने गाँव और खेत-वार आकलन करने के लिए टीमें तैनात की हैं, लेकिन काम का पैमाना बहुत बड़ा है, जिसमें एक अधिकारी अक्सर दस गाँवों को कवर करता है, जो एक बड़ी चुनौती पेश करता है। किसान वित्तीय राहत के लिए उत्सुक हैं, और कार्यकर्ता प्रशासन से त्वरित और पारदर्शी आकलन सुनिश्चित करने के लिए यदि आवश्यक हो तो अतिरिक्त टीमें तैनात करने का आग्रह कर रहे हैं।
