Weeks after a judicial panel found IAS officer Rohit Sisonia primarily responsible for the Indore water contamination deaths, he has been appointed Collector of Raisen district. Sisonia, then Additional Commissioner (water supply) of Indore Municipal Corporation, was suspended in January 2026 following the tragedy that caused over 30 deaths. The judicial report blamed the mixing of sewage with drinking water due to damaged pipelines. The Opposition Congress has criticised the appointment, questioning the transparency of transfers and postings in the state and alleging favouritism over accountability.
