Haryana DGP Ajay Singhal admitted to "certain lapses" in how police handled and cremated an unidentified body, later identified as Yuvraj Singh Manchanda. The body was recovered and cremated as unidentified four days later, with details uploaded to ZIPNET only. Singhal stated that while the body was cremated within the 72-hour SOP, there were other procedural shortcomings. The court has taken cognizance of these lapses, and the police department will review and issue necessary directions.
