Lucknow University Students Burn Effigies Over Hostel Allotment, Food, Water Issues

Lucknow University students protested on Dussehra by burning effigies of the vice-chancellor and other officials, citing irregularities in hostel allotment and poor quality of food and drinking water. The protest follows a month of complaints and a seven-day sit-in demanding transparent allotment and administrative action. University officials stated the vice-chancellor inspected hostels and formed a 10-member committee to monitor food quality. They also noted that water issues are due to boring-system problems, with repairs underway.

लखनऊ विश्वविद्यालय के छात्रों ने दशहरा पर कुलपति और अन्य अधिकारियों के पुतले फूंके। उन्होंने हॉस्टल आवंटन में अनियमितताओं और भोजन व पीने के पानी की खराब गुणवत्ता का आरोप लगाया। यह विरोध एक महीने की शिकायतों और सात दिन के धरने के बाद हुआ, जिसमें पारदर्शी आवंटन और प्रशासनिक कार्रवाई की मांग की गई थी। विश्वविद्यालय के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि कुलपति ने हॉस्टल का निरीक्षण किया और भोजन की गुणवत्ता की निगरानी के लिए 10 सदस्यीय समिति बनाई है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि बोरिंग-सिस्टम की समस्याओं के कारण पानी की दिक्कतें आ रही हैं, जिनकी मरम्मत चल रही है।
