Scroll Journalist Detained 21 Km Away From Delhi Protest Site

Scroll's Political Editor Shoaib Daniyal was detained by Delhi Police approximately 21 kilometers away from the Jantar Mantar protest site. Daniyal was waiting for a taxi outside his South Delhi home when police, who had set up a checkpoint nearby, became suspicious after he inquired about their presence. The police searched his bag, photographed his Aadhaar card, noted his address, and then detained him. He was taken away in a bus, but the police did not take him to a nearby station as they initially stated.

स्क्रॉल के पॉलिटिकल एडिटर शोएब दानिय़ाल को दिल्ली पुलिस ने जंतर मंतर विरोध स्थल से लगभग 21 किलोमीटर दूर हिरासत में लिया। दानिय़ाल अपने दक्षिण दिल्ली स्थित घर के बाहर टैक्सी का इंतज़ार कर रहे थे, तभी पास में लगे एक चेकपॉइंट पर पुलिस को उनकी मौजूदगी पर शक हुआ जब उन्होंने पुलिस की मौजूदगी के बारे में पूछताछ की। पुलिस ने उनका बैग तलाशा, आधार कार्ड की फोटो ली, पता नोट किया और फिर उन्हें हिरासत में ले लिया। उन्हें एक बस में ले जाया गया, लेकिन पुलिस उन्हें पास के स्टेशन पर नहीं ले गई जैसा कि उन्होंने शुरू में कहा था।
