Gurugram's Four Waste Sorting Centres Non-Operational Since June

All four material recovery facilities (MRFs) in Gurugram have been non-operational since June 2024, following the MCG termination of a waste-management contract. This leaves the city without facilities to sort recyclable waste like plastic and paper from its daily solid waste. Gurugram generates approximately 1,400-1,500 tonnes of waste daily, with about 313 tonnes being recyclable. In the absence of MRFs, waste is now transported to the Bandhwari landfill without segregation. New waste collection contracts have been awarded, with the firms expected to establish new MRFs.

गुरुग्राम की चार MRF (मटेरियल रिकवरी फैसिलिटी) जून 2024 से बंद पड़ी हैं। MCG ने कचरा प्रबंधन का कॉन्ट्रैक्ट खत्म कर दिया था। इसकी वजह से शहर में प्लास्टिक और कागज जैसे रीसाइक्लेबल कचरे को बाकी सॉलिड वेस्ट से अलग करने की कोई सुविधा नहीं बची है। गुरुग्राम में रोज़ाना करीब 1,400-1,500 टन कचरा निकलता है, जिसमें से लगभग 313 टन रीसाइक्लेबल होता है। MRF के बंद होने से अब कचरा बिना छाँटे ही बंधवाड़ी लैंडफिल में भेजा जा रहा है। नए कचरा कलेक्शन कॉन्ट्रैक्ट दे दिए गए हैं और उम्मीद है कि ये कंपनियाँ नई MRF बनाएंगी।
