The minor was initially released on bail after his Mercedes allegedly rammed into the victim's scooter at high speed early Sunday morning. Following public outcry and a preliminary investigation, police invoked Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, dealing with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The victim, 55-year-old Jayabalakrishnan, was returning home from his roadside eatery when the accident occurred.
