The Hindu - International · world
The United States has banned imports from three Chinese genomics companies, BGI Genomics, MGI Tech, and Shenzhen BGI Technology, over allegations of collecting genetic material used to track persecuted ethnic minorities in China's Xinjiang region. These companies have been added to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated these firms aided in collecting genetic material from individuals subjected to forced labour.
