Delhi Bans Non-BS-VI Vehicles From Nov 1 to Curb Pollution

Business Standard · environment

Delhi's government will prohibit vehicles registered outside the city that do not meet Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) emission norms, until January 31, 2027. This measure is part of the city's winter pollution control plan aimed at reducing vehicle emissions. Electric and CNG vehicles are exempt from the ban. While transport is a significant contributor to Delhi's pollution, secondary particulate matter formed in the air is the primary cause. The government has also implemented the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-1) to address pollution.
