Woman Loses Rs 1.3 Lakh to Fake Customer Care Scam in Mangaluru

A 37-year-old woman in Mangaluru was defrauded of Rs 1.3 lakh by cybercriminals posing as e-commerce customer care representatives. She had initially sought a refund for a cancelled ceiling fan order placed on October 21. After finding a customer care number online on October 31, she was tricked into transferring Rs 80,000 via Google Pay and an additional Rs 50,000 from her bank account through IMPS. The fraudsters exploited her attempt to resolve the refund issue to steal her money.

मंगलुरु में 37 साल की एक महिला से साइबर अपराधियों ने ई-कॉमर्स कस्टमर केयर प्रतिनिधि बनकर ₹1.3 लाख की ठगी की। उसने 21 अक्टूबर को कैंसिल हुए सीलिंग फैन ऑर्डर के लिए रिफंड मांगा था। 31 अक्टूबर को ऑनलाइन कस्टमर केयर नंबर ढूंढने के बाद, उसे Google Pay से ₹80,000 और फिर IMPS के जरिए अपने बैंक खाते से ₹50,000 ट्रांसफर करने के लिए धोखा दिया गया। जालसाजों ने रिफंड की समस्या को हल करने के उसके प्रयास का फायदा उठाकर उसके पैसे चुरा लिए।
