The Hindu - Business · business

India's coffee industry is planning a significant push towards AI-led mechanisation, with the Coffee Board of India proposing a collaborative effort. This initiative will involve planters' associations, growers' bodies, and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Dharwad and Roorkee. The goal is to develop AI-based farm equipment and tools to address labour challenges and modernise cultivation practices. This move is particularly crucial for Karnataka, which produces nearly 70% of India's coffee, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
