High Nuclear Power Costs May Hinder Wider Adoption in India: ReNew CEO
Business Standard · business
ReNew CEO Sumant Sinha stated that nuclear power's high engineering, procurement, and construction costs could impede its wider adoption in price-sensitive India. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Energy Forum, Sinha noted that the eventual cost of nuclear power remains unclear, despite the government's target of 100 GW capacity by 2047. He suggested that if nuclear power prices decrease, it could be a viable alternative to coal in the long term. Sinha also emphasized the need for grid expansion and increased energy storage to meet India's net-zero ambitions by 2070.
ReNew CEO
Bloomberg New Energy Forum
