Sloth Spends Life Hanging Upside Down, Descends Weekly for Toilet

Aaj Tak · interesting

Sloths are fascinating mammals found in Central and South American forests, known for spending most of their lives hanging upside down from trees. To conserve energy, they move very slowly and perform essential functions like eating, sleeping, and even giving birth while suspended. Uniquely, sloths descend from trees only about once a week to defecate and urinate near the base of their home tree. This descent is risky, exposing them to predators on the ground, though it doesn't always result in their demise.
