An Afghan woman, Nazira Haji Zada, has been deported from the US in the first use of the Alien Terrorist Removal Court, established 30 years ago. Accused of aiding an ISIL plot, the 47-year-old lawful permanent resident was arrested in 2024 and deported to Afghanistan after waiving her rights. The Department of Justice hailed it as a national security victory, while her defense argued the court violates due process by withholding evidence.
