Iran Thanks Russia, China For Vetoing Sanctions

Iran has expressed gratitude to Russia and China for vetoing a US-drafted UN Security Council resolution aimed at extending the mandate of a panel monitoring sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Iran's Permanent Mission to the UN stated that Russia and China defended the UN Charter and international law by preventing what it called a cynical US attempt to abuse the Security Council for political purposes.
