Yemen Leader Calls For Mobilisation, Offers Houthi Amnesty

Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council chair, Rashad al-Alimi, has urged citizens to join the armed forces to counter Houthi advances towards the Bab al-Mandeb strait. He also pledged amnesty for Houthi fighters who defect to government forces. This initiative comes as the internationally recognised government aims to regain control of the capital, Sana'a, seized by the Houthis in 2014. Al-Alimi's speech coincided with the 64th anniversary of a military coup that led to Yemen's civil war. The call for mobilisation and amnesty aims to bolster government efforts in the ongoing conflict.

यमन के राष्ट्रपति नेतृत्व परिषद के अध्यक्ष रशाद अल-अलीमी ने नागरिकों से हौथी विद्रोहियों के बाब अल-मंदेब जलडमरूमध्य की ओर बढ़ते कदमों का मुकाबला करने के लिए सेना में शामिल होने का आग्रह किया है। उन्होंने हौथी लड़ाकों को सरकारी पक्ष में आने पर माफ़ी का वादा भी किया। यह कदम तब उठाया गया है जब सरकार 2014 से हौथियों के कब्जे वाली राजधानी सना पर फिर से नियंत्रण करने की कोशिश कर रही है। अल-अलीमी का भाषण यमन के गृह युद्ध की शुरुआत करने वाले सैन्य तख्तापलट की 64वीं वर्षगांठ पर आया।
