The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the Manickal grama panchayat secretary to conduct thorough inspections and obtain no-objection certificates from multiple departments before renewing the licence for Happyland amusement park. This action follows a serious accident where a swing chair ride collapsed, injuring tourists. The SHRC also emphasized the need for fitness checks on all rides and adequate safety measures, especially after a previous drowning incident at the park's swimming pool. The commission stressed the panchayat's responsibility in ensuring public safety.
