Turtle Sanctuary ESZ Mapping Complete in UP

Hindustan Times · environment

The eco-sensitive zone mapping around the Turtle Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, Bhadohi, and Mirzapur districts is now complete. This initiative aims to create a conservation and management roadmap for a 30-km stretch of the Ganga river. A 500-meter buffer zone from the riverbank has been recommended for state government approval. The mapping exercise, which began in December 2025, sought to balance wildlife conservation with local development, ensuring turtle habitats are protected from adverse impacts. This will help regulate activities like mining and industrial units near the sanctuary.
