The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed schools to comply with Supreme Court guidelines on bullying and harassment based on gender identity and sexual orientation. The directive came after a petition by the mother of a 16-year-old boy who died by suicide, alleging he was bullied and assaulted by peers. The court emphasized the need for effective implementation of existing guidelines, stating that those remaining only on paper offer little protection.
