Farmer Leader Raju Shetti Demands Halt To Cane Crushing Until Price Demands Met

Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana president Raju Shetti has intensified his agitation for higher sugar and ethanol prices by urging cooperative sugar factories to suspend cane crushing operations. He visited several mills in Kolhapur district and led protests outside their gates. Shetti demands a sugarcane price of Rs 5,000 per tonne, which he believes requires a sugar MSP of Rs 50 per kg and ethanol procurement at Rs 70 per litre. He stated that factories are processing immature cane under government pressure, causing losses.

स्वाभिमानी शेतकरी संघटनाचा अध्यक्ष राजू शेट्टी यांनी सहकारी साखर कारखान्यांना गन्ने की पेराई रोकने का आग्रह करके चीनी और इथेनॉल की ऊंची कीमतों के लिए अपना आंदोलन तेज कर दिया है। उन्होंने कोल्हापुर जिले के कई कारखानों का दौरा किया और उनके द्वारों के बाहर विरोध प्रदर्शन का नेतृत्व किया। शेट्टी ने 5,000 रुपये प्रति टन गन्ने की कीमत की मांग की है, जिसके बारे में उनका मानना है कि इसके लिए 50 रुपये प्रति किलोग्राम चीनी MSP और 70 रुपये प्रति लीटर इथेनॉल खरीद की आवश्यकता होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि कारखाने सरकार के दबाव में अपरिपक्व गन्ने को संसाधित कर रहे हैं, जिससे नुकसान हो रहा है।
