Rajasthan Election Chief Orders Probe Into Barmer Sarpanch Poll Irregularity

Rajasthan State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh has ordered an investigation into how a candidate, Pooraram, whose nomination papers were rejected, was allotted an election symbol and declared the winner of the Gadra Road gram panchayat sarpanch election in Barmer. Singh clarified that the commission cannot overturn the result, stating that any challenge must be filed in a competent court. The commission will examine whether the symbol was allotted deliberately or by mistake and take action against any guilty officials.

राजस्थान के राज्य चुनाव आयुक्त राजेश्‍वर सिंह ने इस बात की जांच के आदेश दिए हैं कि गडरारोड ग्राम पंचायत के सरपंच चुनाव में बाड़मेर के एक उम्मीदवार पूराराम, जिनके नामांकन पत्र खारिज कर दिए गए थे, को चुनाव चिन्ह कैसे आवंटित किया गया और उन्हें विजेता घोषित कर दिया गया। सिंह ने स्पष्ट किया कि आयोग परिणाम को पलट नहीं सकता, और कहा कि किसी भी चुनौती को सक्षम न्यायालय में दायर किया जाना चाहिए। आयोग यह जांच करेगा कि चिन्ह जानबूझकर या गलती से आवंटित किया गया था और किसी भी दोषी अधिकारी के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करेगा।
