Mumbai Construction Work May Be Suspended Under Strict Air Pollution Rules

BMC is scrutinizing construction and redevelopment activities due to deteriorating air quality. The BMC has implemented a 28-point guideline for dust and pollution control, mandating AQI monitoring at sites. Construction work can be suspended if the city-level or local AQI remains above 200 for three consecutive days, as per the Graded Response Action Plan. These measures aim to mitigate dust generated from excavation, demolition, and material handling, thereby improving air quality.

बिगड़ती हवा की गुणवत्ता के कारण BMC निर्माण और पुनर्विकास गतिविधियों की जांच कर रहा है। BMC ने धूल और प्रदूषण नियंत्रण के लिए 28-सूत्रीय दिशानिर्देश लागू किए हैं, जिसमें साइटों पर AQI निगरानी अनिवार्य है। Graded Response Action Plan के अनुसार, यदि शहर-स्तरीय या स्थानीय AQI लगातार तीन दिनों तक 200 से ऊपर रहता है, तो निर्माण कार्य को निलंबित किया जा सकता है। इन उपायों का उद्देश्य खुदाई, विध्वंस और सामग्री प्रबंधन से उत्पन्न धूल को कम करना है, जिससे हवा की गुणवत्ता में सुधार हो सके।
