New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the release of tens of thousands of documents concerning the city's knowledge of air toxicity after the 9/11 attacks. This disclosure occurs ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks. The 2001 attacks killed 2,977 people, primarily in New York. Since then, over 9,400 deaths have been linked to illnesses from exposure to the toxic air.
