Mirza clarified that she recorded the video for public interest and public health, not to offend religious sentiments. She expressed disappointment, stating she received no payment for her involvement and questioned why a public welfare message would draw criticism. Mirza also voiced displeasure over BMC deleting the video.

अभिनेत्री दीया मिर्जा ने बीएमसी के दिवाली जागरूकता अभियान में अपनी भागीदारी को लेकर उठे विवाद पर प्रतिक्रिया दी है। बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट के निर्देशों के अनुसार सार्वजनिक सड़कों पर पटाखे न फोड़ने का आग्रह करने वाला वीडियो, विरोध के बाद बीएमसी ने हटा दिया था। मिर्जा ने स्पष्ट किया कि उन्होंने यह वीडियो धार्मिक भावनाओं को ठेस पहुंचाने के लिए नहीं, बल्कि जनहित और सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य के लिए रिकॉर्ड किया था। उन्होंने निराशा व्यक्त की, कहा कि उन्हें इसमें शामिल होने के लिए कोई भुगतान नहीं मिला और सवाल किया कि जन कल्याण के संदेश की आलोचना क्यों की जाएगी। मिर्जा ने बीएमसी द्वारा वीडियो हटाए जाने पर भी नाराजगी जताई।
