Antibiotics Can Disrupt Gut Bacteria, Causing 5 Digestive Changes
HT - Lifestyle · lifestyle
Biologist Dr Debojyoti Dhar explains that while antibiotics target harmful bacteria, they also disrupt the gut's natural microbial balance. This alteration can reduce beneficial bacteria, allowing less susceptible ones to proliferate and potentially leading to antibiotic resistance. The resulting changes in gut physiology can manifest as several digestive issues. These include diarrhea or looser stools, increased bloating and gas due to altered fermentation, and changes in bowel habits like constipation or more frequent stools.
