Hindustan Times · interesting

A significant collection of Buddhist relics, excavated 144 years ago from an ancient stupa in Nalasopara, Mumbai, will be publicly displayed next year. These artifacts, including nested caskets, gold flowers, coins, and bronze figures, have been preserved by the Asiatic Society of Bombay since their discovery in 1882. The exhibition, planned around Buddha Purnima in May 2027, aims to connect Sopara's ancient Buddhist heritage with its historical role as a trade hub. The collection offers a rare glimpse into centuries-old Buddhist traditions and archaeological findings.
