Cabinet Extends Social Assistance Scheme Till FY31 With ₹53,428 Crore Outlay

The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) for five years, from FY27 to FY31, with a total outlay of ₹53,428 crore. The scheme will be renamed Pradhan Mantri Samajik Sahayata Yojana, with several sub-schemes also receiving new names. Eligibility criteria and assistance rates for the disability pension have been revised, including a reduced disability threshold of 40% and eligibility from birth. Around 32 million beneficiaries across all states and Union Territories are expected to benefit from these changes.

केंद्रीय कैबिनेट ने राष्ट्रीय सामाजिक सहायता कार्यक्रम (NSAP) को वित्तीय वर्ष 27 से 31 तक पांच साल के लिए जारी रखने की मंजूरी दे दी है, जिसके लिए कुल ₹53,428 करोड़ का प्रावधान किया गया है। इस योजना का नाम बदलकर प्रधानमंत्री सामाजिक सहायता योजना कर दिया जाएगा, और कई उप-योजनाओं के नाम भी बदले जाएंगे। दिव्यांग पेंशन के लिए पात्रता मानदंड और सहायता दरों में संशोधन किया गया है, जिसमें दिव्यांगता की सीमा 40% तक कम कर दी गई है और जन्म से पात्रता शामिल है। इन बदलावों से सभी राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के लगभग 32 मिलियन लाभार्थियों को लाभ मिलने की उम्मीद है।
