Hindustan Zinc Shares Drop 4% After India Allows Large Silver Imports
Economic Times Markets · stocks
Hindustan Zinc shares fell approximately 4% after the Indian government permitted the import of 6,500 metric tonnes of silver over the next six months. This move aims to meet festive season demand and ease domestic premiums caused by tight supplies. India, the world's largest silver consumer, had previously restricted imports in May and June. Despite the government's action, domestic demand remains subdued as investors are cautious after recent price corrections. Silver prices also saw a decline following the import announcement.
