The Electricity Employees’ Federation of India (EEFI) has demanded an independent probe into the Kerala government's alleged push to purchase 500 MW of electricity from a private platform at a higher rate, overriding objections from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). EEFI president Elamaram Kareem stated the deal would incur an additional financial burden of ₹727 crore and fail to meet peak-hour needs. He also raised concerns about the delay in issuing work orders for smart electricity meters, suspecting a move to undermine cost-effective options.
