The Kerala Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution urging the Union government to accept the state's revised Ecologically Sensitive Area (ESA) proposal. This revised proposal covers 8,590.69 sq km across 98 revenue villages. The resolution seeks the Union government to issue the final ESA notification for the Western Ghats only after considering the state's amended proposal. It aims to safeguard the interests of the state's people while ensuring ecological integrity and long-term conservation of the region. Special exemptions are also requested for certain industries and infrastructure.

केरल विधानसभा ने सर्वसम्मति से एक प्रस्ताव पारित किया है जिसमें केंद्र सरकार से राज्य के संशोधित इकोलॉजिकली सेंसिटिव एरिया (ईएसए) प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार करने का आग्रह किया गया है। इस संशोधित प्रस्ताव में 98 राजस्व गांवों में फैले 8,590.69 वर्ग किमी क्षेत्र को शामिल किया गया है। प्रस्ताव में केंद्र सरकार से पश्चिमी घाट के लिए अंतिम ईएसए अधिसूचना जारी करने से पहले राज्य के संशोधित प्रस्ताव पर विचार करने का अनुरोध किया गया है। इसका उद्देश्य राज्य के लोगों के हितों की रक्षा करना है, साथ ही क्षेत्र की पारिस्थितिक अखंडता और दीर्घकालिक संरक्षण सुनिश्चित करना है। कुछ उद्योगों और बुनियादी ढांचे के लिए विशेष छूट का भी अनुरोध किया गया है।
