Vegetarian Thali Costs Rise 10% In India As Onion Prices Surge

The cost of a home-cooked vegetarian thali in India increased by 10% year-on-year in September, according to a Crisil report. Non-vegetarian thalis saw a 6% rise. This surge is primarily driven by an 89% jump in onion prices, which reached ₹53 per kg from ₹28 last year. Edible oil prices also rose 12%, LPG cylinders by 10%, and rice by 8%. The report indicates that onion prices may rise further due to festival demand before the new kharif crop arrives.

एक Crisil रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, सितंबर में भारत में घर पर बनी शाकाहारी थाली की लागत साल-दर-साल 10% बढ़ गई। मांसाहारी थालियों में 6% की वृद्धि देखी गई। यह उछाल मुख्य रूप से प्याज की कीमतों में 89% की वृद्धि के कारण है, जो पिछले साल ₹28 प्रति किलो से बढ़कर ₹53 प्रति किलो हो गई। खाद्य तेल की कीमतों में भी 12% की वृद्धि हुई, एलपीजी सिलेंडर 10% और चावल 8% महंगा हुआ। रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि नई खरीफ फसल आने से पहले त्योहारी मांग के कारण प्याज की कीमतें और बढ़ सकती हैं।
