Indian Rupee Strengthens to Over One-Month High; Bond Yields Fall
Business Standard · stocks
The Indian rupee appreciated for the fifth consecutive session, reaching its best level since October 21, 2026, driven by easing crude oil prices following the US midterm election results. Sovereign bond yields also declined, hitting an over one-month low of 7.17% for the benchmark 10-year government bond. The rupee gained 0.5% in November and 1.4% in the quarter due to regulatory measures and foreign fund inflows. Analysts suggest that sustained yield decreases depend on global capital competition easing, with current conditions potentially leading to higher yields ahead.
