Elderly Woman Declared Dead In Records, Fights To Prove She Is Alive

An elderly woman named Rajabai from Dhura village in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, approached the SDM office to report that her old-age pension had stopped. She discovered that government records declared her dead, despite her being alive and seeking assistance. Rajabai stated that the pension was her primary source of income and its cessation has caused significant financial hardship. She alleges that proper verification was not conducted before declaring her deceased. The SDM has ordered an investigation into the matter by the Social Welfare Department.

झांसी, उत्तर प्रदेश के धूरा गांव की रहने वाली एक बुजुर्ग महिला राजाबाई ने एसडीएम कार्यालय पहुंचकर बताया कि उनकी वृद्धावस्था पेंशन बंद हो गई है। उन्होंने पाया कि सरकारी रिकॉर्ड में उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया गया है, जबकि वह जीवित हैं और मदद मांग रही हैं। राजाबाई ने कहा कि पेंशन उनकी आय का मुख्य स्रोत थी और इसके बंद होने से उन्हें भारी आर्थिक तंगी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि उन्हें मृत घोषित करने से पहले उचित सत्यापन नहीं किया गया था। एसडीएम ने समाज कल्याण विभाग को इस मामले की जांच का आदेश दिया है।
