University of Calicut authorities have proposed action against the use of political party flags and the storage of weapons within its main campus hostels. This decision follows complaints of students attacking others with weapons and allegations of certain student organizations stocking arms. Reports also indicated that political flags were prominently displayed, and some hostel blocks were treated as private fiefdoms. The university has warned that criminal action will be initiated against those violating hostel rules, with the Syndicate to make the final decision.
