Supreme Court Refuses To Get Dragged Into Political Battles

Times of India · politics

The Supreme Court has reiterated that it should not be dragged into political battlefields or have politics brought into the court. A bench led by CJI Surya Kant emphasized the need for judicial restraint, stating that courts are not concerned with political parties or their activities. This comes after the CJI declined a private meeting request from Congress leaders regarding election allegations. The court also addressed concerns about protests obstructing legal proceedings, agreeing to hear petitions on the matter. It stressed that democratic institutions must function peacefully without impediments.
