IAF Chief: Fighter Jet Induction Delays Hurting Air Force, Need 40 Aircraft Annually

Hindustan Times · india

Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh stated that delays in new fighter jet inductions are negatively impacting the IAF. He emphasized the need to produce and induct 36 to 40 aircraft annually to maintain and improve combat squadron strength. The IAF is relying on timely induction of LCA Mk-1A, new multi-role fighter aircraft (MRFA), and additional Sukhoi-30MKIs to prevent squadron numbers from falling below 30. Singh anticipates the MRFA contract, potentially for 114 Rafale jets, could be finalized by the financial year's end.
