The Delhi High Court has quashed a FIR registered against the digital news platform Newsclick and its founder, Prabir Purkayastha. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna ruled on May 29 that allegations concerning foreign direct investment, share valuation, and fund expenditure did not disclose offences of cheating or criminal breach of trust. The court observed that even if the complaint's allegations were accepted, the essential elements of the alleged offences were not made out. This decision impacts the ongoing legal proceedings against the news outlet.
