Skeleton Found In Roman Jar After Attack

Archaeologists in Bulgaria discovered the 1,600-year-old skeleton of a young man inside a large Roman storage jar. The remains were found at the ancient Roman colony of Deultum, within a turret near the western gate. Evidence of a violent attack, including ash, charcoal, and melted glass, surrounded the jar. The man likely sought refuge inside the dolium after a fire started, possibly during an attack by Germanic groups or Huns around A.D. 400.
