Thane Activist Shot Dead; Police Arrest 3 Suspects Within 12 Hours

Police in Maharashtra's Thane district have arrested three individuals within 12 hours of the murder of activist Harish Gajwani. Gajwani was campaigning against illegal gutka sales and gambling activities. He was shot near Ulhasnagar railway station on Wednesday evening and sustained two bullet injuries to the head. Investigators suspect an old enmity stemming from a 2021 murder case involving one of the arrested persons, Avinash Naidu, as the motive. Gajwani, who had a criminal record, had previously accused senior police officials of shielding illegal operations.
