Delhi's AI Traffic System to Create Green Corridors for Ambulances
Hindustan Times · technology
Delhi's new AI-enabled Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), approved at a cost of ₹1,789.52 crore, will automatically create green corridors for ambulances and emergency vehicles. Sensors on these vehicles will communicate with traffic signals, turning them green as the vehicle approaches and holding the green until it passes. This system aims to minimize stoppages for emergency services, ensuring faster transit through intersections. The ITMS will be implemented in phases across 42 key traffic corridors over 24 months, modernizing traffic management with adaptive signals and real-time information.
