Indian football teams will not participate in the Asian Games 2026 as they failed to meet the Sports Ministry's eligibility criteria. The ministry mandated teams to achieve a top 8 finish in the last Senior Asian Championships or be ranked within the top 8 in Asia. The Indian men's team was ranked 27th in Asia, while the women's team was ranked 12th. This marks a change from the 2023 Games, where both teams participated, with the men's team assembled late.
