Delhi University Orders Campus Safety Audits, Sets October 12 Deadline

The University of Delhi has directed college principals, department heads, and hostel wardens to conduct comprehensive safety audits of their premises by October 12. This initiative aims to enhance women's safety on campus by identifying blind spots, repairing non-functional lights, and installing CCTV cameras. The directive follows recent incidents of alleged sexual assault and harassment, as well as student protests demanding better security. The university also recommended increased police presence, dedicated surveillance teams, and gender sensitization workshops.

दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी ने कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपलों, विभागाध्यक्षों और हॉस्टल वार्डनों को 12 अक्टूबर तक अपने परिसरों का व्यापक सुरक्षा ऑडिट करने का निर्देश दिया है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य ब्लाइंड स्पॉट की पहचान करना, खराब लाइटों की मरम्मत करना और सीसीटीवी कैमरे लगाना है ताकि कैंपस में महिलाओं की सुरक्षा बढ़ाई जा सके। यह निर्देश हाल ही में कथित यौन उत्पीड़न और उत्पीड़न की घटनाओं के साथ-साथ बेहतर सुरक्षा की मांग को लेकर छात्रों के विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बाद आया है। यूनिवर्सिटी ने पुलिस की मौजूदगी बढ़ाने, समर्पित निगरानी टीमों और लिंग संवेदीकरण कार्यशालाओं की भी सिफारिश की है।
