Punjab Rice Millers Object to FCI's No-Transport-Cost Clause for Rice Delivery

Times of India · business

Rice millers in Punjab have formally objected to a recent directive from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Punjab Region. The FCI's communication requires millers to deliver 3.13 lakh metric tonnes of custom milled rice from the Kharif marketing season 2025-26 to designated centres without any additional financial implication, including transportation costs. Millers argue this contradicts an earlier FCI North Zone communication that allowed for transportation charges on a case-to-case basis.
