Sharma highlighted that the bridge's retaining wall has partially collapsed, exposing steel reinforcement and is reportedly supported by temporary clamps. He expressed grave concern for public safety, noting that thousands of vehicles use the bridge daily, posing a significant risk of failure, especially during heavy rain. Sharma urged the Governor to order an immediate safety inspection and expedited repairs to prevent potential loss of life.

लुधियाना के एक सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, अरविंद शर्मा ने पंजाब के राज्यपाल को सिधवां नहर पर बने गिल रोड ब्रिज की गंभीर रूप से जर्जर हालत के बारे में आगाह किया है। शर्मा ने बताया कि ब्रिज की रिटेनिंग वॉल आंशिक रूप से ढह गई है, जिससे स्टील की छड़ें दिखाई दे रही हैं और यह कथित तौर पर अस्थायी क्लैंप द्वारा समर्थित है। उन्होंने सार्वजनिक सुरक्षा को लेकर गंभीर चिंता जताई, यह देखते हुए कि हर दिन हजारों वाहन इस ब्रिज का उपयोग करते हैं, जिससे इसके फेल होने का महत्वपूर्ण खतरा है, खासकर भारी बारिश के दौरान। शर्मा ने राज्यपाल से तत्काल सुरक्षा निरीक्षण और संभावित जनहानि को रोकने के लिए त्वरित मरम्मत का आदेश देने का आग्रह किया।
